If you have carpet then you’re probably not wanting to find out what is best to help your furry love to stop slipping in the home, but know that slippery surfaces can increase the risk of injury and discomfort as they try to grip to the floor below them.
So if you’re like me and have floorboards, or tiles, and have a senior or arthritic dog you want to keep safe then here are my top suggestions:
Rubber Play Mats
These are my favourites. Although they can come apart easily, they are also easy to put back together and easy to clean. They are often quite thick and well padded.

Note – that they tend to come with edge pieces, I personally don’t use them because they come apart easily and it’s just more work to put them together!
Yoga Mats
Yoga mats are my next favourite type of non-slip flooring, though I do tend to find them more slippery (particularly the cheap ones).
I also find them hard to clean because of the different type of material it seems to soak into the mat, sadly my pups have had a few accidents on them so I know from experience!
Rugs
Rugs can be more expensive and harder to clean due to the fabric, but they can cover a larger area and can save you time by not having to put all the pieces back together again!
